Words of Wisdom: November
Mr. Dan Doerksen
In Matthew 19:16-30 we have the story of when a
rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked him what
good thing he should do to have eternal life. When
Jesus told him some of the commandments, the
ruler said that he had done all those things. But
when Jesus told him that he still needed to sell all
that he had, give it to the poor so he would have
treasure in heaven, and then to follow Jesus, the
young man went away sad or sorrowful, the bible
says. He was not willing to give up everything to
follow Jesus, because his money and his things
were still more important to him than Jesus. What
is or should be the most important thing to us as
well? Matthew 6:33 has the answer: “but seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and righteousness; and
all these things shall be added unto you.” May God
help us to make Him first in our lives.
