John Davidson Tower Garden
Harvest season may be over but at John Davidson we have new life in our lobby. In the heart of our school we have a tower garden that is blooming as the snow is starting to fall. This garden is an aeroponic growing system which means that instead of growing in soil, the plants grow in an air and water environment. The seeds are planted in a rockwool cube simply to hold them in place and keep them moist. As the plants grow, their roots grow beyond the cube to hang down into the tower and get watered every 45 minutes. With the combination of this nutrient filled water and bright grow lights that imitate the sun, these plants get everything they need to thrive all year round. We love watching these plants grow and are excited to enjoy some fresh lettuce, green beans, arugula, kale, and basil from our tower garden.
